Who does not know it: you actually want every pedal on your pedalboard, only it does not fit! Now, Ibanez recognizes this problem and has launched the Ibanez TSMINI Tube Screamer mini. This downsize has no consequences for the sound because it is and remains rock-solid. the tone and volume knobs have been slightly reduced, but on the other hand, work very fine and without cures.
For this pedal, Ibanez used the same JRC4558 IC chip as in its big brother, the Ibanez TS808. This is a fully analog pedal and is fully true-bypass. Also with this pedal you have the tone, level and overdrive button, just like the 808. With the tone button you can tweak to what extent you want bass and treble in your sound. The art of this pedal is in the relationship between the volume and the overdrive button.
A nice trick is to use this pedal as a booster. You turn the volume up completely, turn the overdrive (almost) off and upset your amplifier for that nice natural edge. A lot of metal guitarists grab an amplifier that is already heavily overdriven and set this pedal with volume to half with a bit of overdrive. This gives you a very thick sound so that even single coils still sound like a thick Les Paul!
