History of Martin

Martin is a company with a rich history. Its founder, Christian Friedrich, was born in 1796. He was the son of a German furniture maker who also built guitars. At 15E He went to vienna to work with Johann Stauffer. One of the most famous and best guitar makers of the time. He must have been in his place here and done well. He was appointed foreman in Stauffer's workshop. In this period, it has learned a lot. In several areas, it has developed well. This involves building guitars, but also getting to know people/guitarists. After 14 years of working under Stauffer's wings, it was time to move on. Mr. Martin went on to a harp builder named Karl Kuhle. Wherever he met his wife (karl's daughter). Two years after the birth of their first son (in 1825) she moved back to Germany. Back in Germany, problems soon arose with the violin makers guild. They wanted to ban the furniture makers from making guitars. To keep a long story short, we can say that this has caused Martin and his family to choose to leave for America in '33.

Construction of the current Martin&Co.

The above step is at the heart of the Martin&Co as we know it today. The move to America made martin more name-recognition. The quality of the guitars soon went around in the world of musicians. Over the years, quite a few great musicians have also played with Martin guitars. Think of Elvis Presley, Kurt Cobain and Willie Nelson.  And then there are only 3 examples in a list that is particularly long. In the meantime, we can say that Martin&Co can no longer be imagined from the image of acoustic guitars.

Martin in short

As mentioned before, Martin has a rich history. A history that didn't go without a fight. During all the moves and changes in work of C.F.Martin, he has continuously learned to perfect. And that's what it has managed to find in a lot of models. Perfection in the wonderful world of acoustic guitars.
