Buy wind instruments?

Wind instruments come in all shapes and sizes. The main main groups are woodwind and brass instruments. With a wind instrument you make sound by blowing air into or over the mouthpiece. In woodwind instruments, the tone is produced by a single or double reed: for example a saxophone. With a flute you blow over the edge of the headjoint, which is also called labium. Brass instruments are those where sound is made by blowing into a mouthpiece with vibrating lips. This includes trumpets, trombones, baritones and horns.Read more...

Blaasinstrumenten kopen?

History of wind instruments

Wind instruments have been used since pre-history. It was discovered that you could use a tube to send such a signal. In the time of the Middle Ages, the trumpetused as a signal instrument. The first metal trumpets appeared in 1400 BC. In 1815 the valve was invented and brass instruments became a melody instrument. Adolphe Sax is the inventor of the saxophone. He is the most famous instrument builder. Because of his vision a lot has changed within the wind instrument family.

Start playing, what do I pay attention to?

Suppose you have chosen the saxophone. What should you pay attention to? A saxophone is a wooden wind instrument. Even if the material is made of copper, this does not have to do with which main group it belongs. It has to do with the traditional line-up in the symphony orchestra. The differences are in the mechanics and certainly the material. This quickly determines the sound of the instrument. The mouthpiece also has an effect. So it is important to start with a standard mouthpiece and also with a thin reed. If you want to start with the trumpet, it is made of brass. The valve housing in particular has an influence. Does the trumpet have monel valves or steel valves. The better and often more expensive trumpet has monel valves.

Is an expensive wind instrument a better choice?

Buying a wind instrument also has to do with what you want. If you are just starting out, you can always buy an affordable wind instrument. You may first want to see if a wind instrument suits you. If you are already sure, you can always skip the study line and look directly at a mediate or intermediate model. If you first buy an affordable instrument, you will sooner want a better alternative if you skip the entry-level models immediately.

What do the most common terms mean?

Wooden wind instrument. This is understood to mean the fluteoboe clarinet, saxophone, bassoon and recorderbelow. It is not about the material of which the instrument is made, but about the way in which the tone is formed.

Brass wind instrument. This includes the trumpets, cornets, trombones, horns, buglesand tubas.

Valves. By pressing a valve, the tube is lengthened, making the tube longer and therefore lower in tone. Several combinations are possible here.

Brass. The material from which metal wind instruments are made.

Headstock. The headstock is the headstock of the guitar. Here are the tuners.

Body. The middle part of the instrument.

Valves. By means of valves with polsters, the toongates are closed at the woodwind instruments to form a different tone.
