LarrivéeDue to his great love for the classical guitar, Canadian Jean Claude Larrivee started his guitar making career in the late 1960s under the close supervision of German master builder Edgar Munch Sr. Jean Claude soon started building classical guitars from his basement in Toronto, but soon had to move to larger premises due to success in order to give the company the growth it demanded. The flourishing folk scene in Toronto led Jean Claude 1970 on a new adventure. Building steel string guitars. During this time he also developed the famous "X bracing system" which provided his guitars with sparkling highs, soothing mids and powerful full basses. The success of the Larrivee grew steadily and got a big boost in the 90's due to the high demand for good folk guitars from programs like MTV unplugged. In September a long dream came true and in 2001 Jean opened the doors of a Larrivée workshop in sunny Oxnard, California.Read more... |
