The Boss ME-80 has everything you need as a guitarist in one device. Thanks to a wide selection of built-in effects and amp simulations you can create almost any sound imaginable. The COSM technology, which is also found in the famous GT-100 multi-effects unit and amplifiers such as the Boss Katana and Roland Cube, is hardly distinguishable from the analog circuits.
Unlike many multi-effects pedals where you first have to set up patches or choose from preset sounds, the Boss ME-80 feels like you are working with 9 stompboxes. The 8 independent footswitches and an expression pedal all have their own compartment with a specific effect. Here you can again choose from different types of the same effect, as if you were replacing one overdrive pedal with a distortion pedal. This way you can easily experiment with your tone. If it still proves difficult to set a good tone, you also have the free Boss Tone Studio software at your disposal, where professional guitarists (including Adam Hann from The 1975, Fredie Cowan from The Vaccines and Herman Li from Dragonforce) parts for you to download and use.
In addition to these functions, the ME-80 also has useful functions such as a built-in looper, memory mode (for when you prefer to work with patches), USB audio / Midi interface, an AUX input and cabinet simulation (activated when something in the REC OUT / PHONES jack is plugged in). The ME-80 is ideal for in the studio, on stage or for practicing in the bedroom first.
