MXR Guitar EffectsMXR finds its origins in 1972 in the audio repair shop of Keith Barr and Terry Sherwood in New York. Through their many repairs to poor built effect units and pedals they wanted to prove that they could make something better in terms of sound and construction quality. With this, MXR was born. It started with the super popular MXR Phase 90. Keith and Terry sold them out of the trunk with performances of various bands throughout the region. Over the years, MXR grew rapidly into an understanding of the guitar scene by releasing the "Distortion +", "the Dyna Comp" Compressor, and the "Blue Box" Octave Fuzz.Read more ... |
In 1987, MXR was sold to Jim Dunlop, and since then became part of the company. After the acquisition by Jim Dunlop, new iconic pedals were developed such as the Fullbore Metal and Carbon Copy. In addition, the traditional pedals line was also further produced. Steve Barr later left at Dunlop and started off with a new brand: Alesis. Which has also become a great brand in the music world.
Artists such as Jimmy Page, Eddie van Halen and Keith Richards all used different MXR pedals on multiple iconic guitar tracks. The very popular Phase 90 has been used on the two first albums of Van Halen. The construction period of MXR pedals is to be recognized by the logos used on the pedals. The first period is the "script" period. The designations type have a "Script" font type. After 1981, the second period starts with the "Boxed" or square fonts. Most pedals are still using the Boxed fonts. But the '74 Vintage Phase 90' still uses the scripted. As a tribute to the original pedals.
For Music All-in we sell MXR pedals for many years and after Boss it has been for all these years the best-selling pedals brand that we have in house. The steel construction is very sturdy and virtually indestructible. Very suitable for the touring guitarist. And a lot of effects are really at the top of pedals in terms of sound. Do you want to compare? Or more advice? Of course, that can always be the case.
