Buy guitar cover? If you want your guitar to get from A to B without damage, you have to buy a guitar bag. This is a backpack that fits a guitar. These are often made of synthetic material such as polyester or nylon. As a result, they are often splash-proof, so that your guitar stays dry despite rain. There are also forms of guitar covers that use harder material. Then we talk about guitar cases. Guitar covers are also handy to use indoors as a storage place for your guitar. Gigbags always provide good protection against temperature differences, humidity and possible harmful accidents. The only downside to this is that you can't display the guitar nicely. This is possible on a stand or hook, but then your guitar will miss its necessary protection.Read more... |

Different Sizes Guitar Bags
Since there are different types of guitars, there are also different sizes of guitar covers. This is important to keep in mind when choosing one. A gig bag for an acoustic guitar is not ideal for an electric guitar. A bass guitar simply does not fit in an electric guitar case. A guitar should no longer have room to move when the guitar cover is closed. Some guitar covers have Velcro or rubber parts that hold the guitar. What you often do not have to take into account is the length of the carrying straps. These are adjustable just like on a backpack. It does matter how wide the straps are and how much padding there is. This can be the difference between back pain or not after wearing the gig bag for a long time. Wider carrying straps distribute the weight of the guitar better over your shoulders. This makes the guitar feel lighter and will be easier to carry.
Differences in quality
As with any product, there are differences between expensive and cheaper guitar bags. There are several features to consider when buying a guitar bag. The thickness of the padding can differ. This is the soft padding of the gig bag. This ensures that if it accidentally falls, the guitar has a soft landing. Often there is a slightly thicker layer on the bottom. This way the guitar is soft on the ground when you are not wearing the guitar cover. The material is also important. Different materials provide different degrees of water resistance, durability and protection. Examples of materials you may encounter are 420D polyester or nylon. Some producers are secretive about what material they use. Often times it will still be a similar synthetic material.
Take accessories with you in your cover
A good gig bag offers the possibility to carry various accessories. Often there are pockets on the front, inside or even on the carrying straps. These are ideal for picks, tuning machines, slides, cables, sheet music, and so on. This is the other benefit of traveling with a gig bag. You can carry everything you need in one go in a bag. However waterproof a material may be, the zipper is often a weak spot. A poor quality zipper often lets water in. This is a waste of the guitar and any stuff in the front pocket. Better zippers provide better weather protection. Some also allow you to put a lock on it, such as with travel suitcases. This is especially useful when traveling by plane or leaving it as luggage with strangers. A better option is still a guitar case. Others will never be as careful with your things as you are.
