A refinement of the concepts that first appeared in the Precision Bass, the Jazz Bass is an example of limit-seeking craftsmanship. Designed for today's musicians, the American Professional Jazz Bass combines modern features with materials and expertise to create a fantastic bass guitar. Being powerful and articulating, the Jazz Bass has quickly established a place in musicians' hearts since its release in 1960. Its thin, ultra-fast neck and styling make it a favorite with bassists everywhere. Funk, fusion, disco and rock all owe their lives to the versatile Jazz Bass. The V-Mod Jazz Bass pickups are modified versions of the classic vintage pickup designs. These single-coil pickups use alnico 5 magnets on the high side and alnico 2 on the bass side for a classic tone with all the vintage warmth and clarity that made Fender a legend. The new American Professional "Deep C" neck profile is designed for comfort and speed. The increased mass and modified geometry create a more natural feel that is perfect for both chord and single note playing. The narrow-tall frets are longer and narrower than their medium jumbo predecessors, making them more effective for bending notes and playing higher in the neck with still perfect intonation. The machine heads are wider at the top than at the bottom. the compressed shafts thus force the string windings down and keep them tight, resulting in a sharper and consistent break angle across the nut, creating more sustain and better tuning stability. All American Professional bass necks contain Posiflex graphite rods to resist movement that can occur due to changes in humidity and temperature. Hidden under the fingerboard, they improve reliability on the road, in the studio or at home. An original era Fender design element, the bone nut, adds to its superior tone and performance. Many players hear bone nuts having a more 'organic' sound.
